Reflections from April's Conversation
- What is unique about this
workshop? ( Or, if applicable how was it different from a previous CW
Roger)
It is still evolving.
Smaller group and I thought it was better
Focused conversations with time structure.
Ideas and conversations this time were more abstract and posed challenging society-based problems.
It’s like coaching
- An interesting question you heard, thought of, or asked.
Better reflection time and space.
What would I like to do next?
What can I contribute.
I think all questions are interesting better to ask what is the best question you heard so far.
How do I do I find my way forward?
Why is life so exciting?
How do we know when enough is enough?
How is my next contribution point to feed my soul?
How do you create community when you new to a city?
What is the opposite of moving forward?
How do we define progress?
· What is an idea you could use?
The job I have now is giving me to the experience that strengthens my resume to work in climate change, if I look for other opportunities in a year or two.
Weaving my story into a presentation, so they get me.
My days are more productive when I’m passionate about what I’m doing.
Follow up with overlapping projects and similar interests.
The conversation care format. I’ve heard about it, but never experienced it. Great process.
To approach a well respected mediator about bringing opposing sides together to make an effort to improve the situation.
Begin with the end in mind.
Talking to Danella at Vancity about business development.
Create an open space dialogue with strategic partners [ as a Victoria think tank for climate change]
How to cross fears.
Fund raiser speakers: Mike Harcourt
How to create engagement.
Attend April 25 th, Chris Turner, author of Geography of Hope, will be at UVic
· What did you l earn about yourself /others?
Good news. There are others!
I learned it is imperative that we step out of of our comfort zone to expand our knowledge.
I like finding our about others.
The answer is close but sometimes too big to see it.
Get energized! Great session!
Importance of reflection and my three hard months of unemployment
There are many thoughtful, creative people.
- What benefit have your received, or can imagine from CW R?
I’ve made a shift in terms of thinking of your job as your ‘contribution’
Continued inspiration and excitement over the collection of like-minded individuals.
-
How can CW Roger help develop community leadership?
The action piece will help this.
Just call people together.
Each participant can take this model for conversation and replicate it with their community members.
Teach people to listen, ask thoughtful questions.
Increase networks and allow people to feel empowered by their own ideas.
Leaders are only as powerful as their networks and this is a great way to make diverse new connections.
- What follow up can you imagine from today’s workshop?
To spend a bit more time on reflection.
If a connection is made - the follow up is automatic and inevitable. I can see meeting new friends and gaining knowledge.
Post ‘How to questions’ on GD to have members answer them.
Going onto the web site and posting what came of our conversation.
Maybe a CWR where we each have an actual little ‘project’ something really attainable.eg “make my neighbourhood more beautiful”
